Work with an Inclusive Trauma Therapist of Color in Los Angeles, CA to Heal Past Trauma
About Me—Stara Shakti, LMFT
Are you a survivor of trauma? Are you a BIPOC/POC (person of color), LGBTQ+, immigrant or 1st-generation American in your 20s, 30s, or 40s? Do you have demanding parents—and trouble living up to their (or your?) perfectionist standards? Do you often feel "not good enough," "bad," ashamed, guilty, or unworthy? Do anxiety, depression, chronic, negative thinking, or self-defeating patterns hold you back or prevent you from moving forward and living a life you desire to live? I know…because I’ve been there.
Having grown up the middle daughter of South Asian immigrants on the East Coast, I understand the struggle of straddling two cultures—East and West—and the feeling like you’re living a “double life.” Along my own path of healing from childhood trauma, I became an inclusive trauma therapist to help other 1st-generation, LGBTQ+, and POC folks heal from similar intercultural, intergenerational trauma too.
I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Trauma Studies from Antioch University-LA. My counseling specialties include: Trauma and intersectionality, LGBTQIA+ and POC/BIPOC folks, first-generation Americans, and relationships—i.e. open/consensual non-monogamy (CNM) as well as narcissistic abuse recovery.
“Adulting” can be hard…especially for Queer POCs; why not have a trusted companion/guide on your journey?
